Celebrating the Majestic Spanish Breeds!!
July 30th- August 1st, 2004 Lexington, Kentucky Kentucky Horse Park
Lynden Hill Stables sure had a blast at the 15th annual celebration of the model horse, BreyerFest. This was our third year attending BreyerFest. Because of our real horses now, we could only spend two days in Kentucky. We left early Friday morning and got to BreyerFest around 11:00. We shopped around a little in the covered arena, and got our Celebration horses, Nobel II. Then went to buy our special item models in the Breyer tent. Along with the special item models, we purchased Felicia Browell's newly released 2004 Collectors Guide, Fourth Edition. We were really excited when we heard that the new guide was just released. We also bought Flash, a new mold that debuted at BreyerFest- we were really excited to see a new Morgan mold! We also picked up some of the Just About Horses Stablemates. Then we went back to the event stabling area. The highlight of our trip was meeting TJ, the star of Hidalgo and meeting his trainer, who was extremely nice. He signed out Hidalgo models, and we were very excited. We were one of the people in line for the signing of Nobel II, and as the line started moving, we watched the thunder and lightening rolling in in the distance! We knew the storm was very close, but we really wanted to get our models signed. We got them signed with three signatures on Nobel II, of the owner and his two riders. Then we decided to go the hotel and head to the Holiday Inn North. As we were walking to our car in the Horse Park parking lot, we were caught in a torrential downpour! We made it just in time however! Then, we put all our models back in our hotel room, and went to the Holiday Inn North for some major shopping and the Swap Meet. While there, I fell in love with the Peter Stone Morgan model and searched every room for them! I bought three models, and then went to the Swap Meet, which you couldn't even move around in! Then we went back to the hotel room, and braved out another storm that night. There were a few tornados around the Lexington area, but none of them came to close to our area fortunately! On Saturday we returned to the Kentucky Horse Park for some last minute shopping. We decided to buy a Hidalgo Stablemate set and a Hidalgo Plush to get signed. As we were going back to get these items signed, another downpour came. It rained hard- and I mean hard!! We had an umbrella, so we braved teh rain and ran back. However, we soon learned that he was not signing in the back- we learned he was on the stage! So we returned, soaking, and got a Hidalgo Plush, Stablemate, Wristband, JAH Magazine, and BreyerFest guide signed. Then I bought one more PS Morgan, a Jamboree special run, and we headed back home. While we could only stay for a short time, we still had probably the most fun so far at any BreyerFest. Between the rain, the shopping, the models, etc. we had a real blast!
